LO2 Media Pitch and Questionnaire
We were asked to make a questionnaire to gain feedback for our presentation/idea for the brief.
Link to my questionnaire - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/H2HNRJS
2) The second strength was that most people thought that my idea was good as I knew what I was doing and that it was a good idea to try and show graffiti has a form of expression (art) rather than a criminal act.
2) Another improvement that I needed to make was to again make sure I planned every detail, for example much like before I didn't know where all of my pictured were going to be taken, I didn't know what all of my pictures was going to be.
3) The last improvement is again about making sure I plan every detail as I didn't know how my photograph were to be composed i.e what angles and shot types I was going to use or what techniques/effects I was going to use.

Here are the answered questionnaire(s) -
Based upon the feedback I received my strengths are;
1) My first strength was that I was confident in what I was saying and that I knew what I was saying.2) The second strength was that most people thought that my idea was good as I knew what I was doing and that it was a good idea to try and show graffiti has a form of expression (art) rather than a criminal act.
Based upon the feedback I received my weaknesses are;
1) One of the improvement that I needed to make was to make sure every is ready for the presentation i.e I didn't know where all of my pictures were to be taken.2) Another improvement that I needed to make was to again make sure I planned every detail, for example much like before I didn't know where all of my pictured were going to be taken, I didn't know what all of my pictures was going to be.
3) The last improvement is again about making sure I plan every detail as I didn't know how my photograph were to be composed i.e what angles and shot types I was going to use or what techniques/effects I was going to use.
LO2 Media Pitch
We pitched our idea for Unit 31-Photography Unit to our class and teacher as part of LO2 we were made to do this as it would help to prepare us for when we actually go out and take the photographs as it made us evaluate all of our idea i.e. the idea planning and the idea itself.
Here are some of the issues with my presentation that I needed to improve on;
Here are some of the issues with my presentation that I needed to improve on;
- I need to make sure that there is less text, I would do this by using less text and more visual aids such as images and examples of the pictures I am going to take.
- Another way I could improve my presentation would be to speak with more confidence and ensure I get my point/idea across.
- Another way I could improve my presentation would be to make sure I'm fully prepared for all questions and ensure I have all the needed information that is required to answer the questions fully.

LO2 Review and Objectives
Review
My previous objectives was to find out everything that could go wrong while I was taking photographs, such as things like gaining permissions for copyrighted products, gaining permissions from models via a release and consent form, to you representing yourself in a bad way I.e. taking photographs in a public place such as near a park where children are may be deemed wrong or even representing other people in a bad way as it may cause legal and ethical issues/action be taken against you.
I managed to complete all my previously set objectives by evaluating everything that could go wrong while I was taking photographs and why and what the consequences would be.

LO2 Copyright/Release and Consent Forms/Legal and Ethical
Copyright-
Copyright- this is the protection of intellectual property i.e. certain
things such as photographs, clips, videos or YOUR ideas can not be used without
your permission.
Gaining permission for any content that is not yours.
Release and Consent Form-
A release and consent form is for anyone who is going to be in your
production i.e. this form gives you permission to release the work in any way
you see fit.
The form contains/consists of their name, what the photographs are going
to be used in/for (what they are signing/giving permission for), the
photographer and the models signature will also be included.
The release and consent form is not only for people but also certain
building i.e. private properties or properties that are considered a historical
landmark.
Reasons why you might be stopped while taking pictures
- One thing that may stop you
from taking photograph is when there are children about; this may stop you
from taking pictures as it’s a very grey area in which you don't know how
people will react or what they will do.
- Another thing that may stop
you from taking photograph in public is a telephoto lens as you can take
photos of people without their knowledge so it’s not permitted; you are
only allowed to use a telephoto in an open area.
- While taking pictures in
public areas you need to be careful of what you take as if you take
pictures of logos and brands you may represent them in the wrong way
therefore breaking the copyright law.
Legal and Ethical
You need to be careful of how you represent people
or things as if you represent them in a way that they don't like they
could sue you/ or you could be breaking the copyright law.
- People
- Children
- Parents
- Cultures
- Religion
- Companies/brands and
logos
- Ethnicity
- Disabilities
Defamatory- if you represent someone/thing in a way that is not true by
accident.

LO1 Review and LO2 Objectives
LO1 Review
I completed all the objectives that I set myself previously I.e. I completed the LO1 task 'Photography Analysis', which was there to help us get a deeper understanding of photography by helping us to understand how photographs are composed (put together) to create meaning and what techniques are used and why they are used.

Mark Pain - Sport
A) This photograph belongs to
photographic category of sport.
B) The purpose of this photograph
could be to be to be used in magazines/newspapers such as The Star and the Daily Express, it could also be used as part of a website article/advertisement to promote the Olympics or sports as part of a new story.
C/D) The photographic techniques denoted
varies, the most obvious one is the shutter speed that this photograph uses,
for example the shutter speed used for this photograph would be considerably
faster than the standard as the image is crisp/sharp this is shown as it
captures the motion in which the water and the water droplets moved in mid-air.
The second photography technique used is that of the rule of thirds, this is
used to make the photograph technique look balanced. The third photography
technique used is high key lighting. Another photography term/technique that
this image uses is the camera angle known as eye level or neutral as well as
the shot type of a close-up, these angles and shot types were used to connote a neutral scene in which the image denotes an important action or event taking place, in this case the photograph technique 'close -up' denotes his facial expressions as its showing his unwavering determination and connotes his unwillingness to give in. This photograph also has a small aperture as it uses a large f-number such as f/8 which causes this pictures to have a deeper depth of field. The ISO that this photograph uses would be somewhere around the standard ISO setting (ISO 100 or 200) as the image is in-focus and sharp.

David Lloyd - WildlifeFRAMING
2.
A) This photograph belongs to photographic category of
nature/wildlife.
B) The purpose of this photograph
could be denoted in several ways, one of which is to connote the beauty of
nature and wildlife by photographing the animals in their natural habitats,
another connotation of this photograph could be to denote how threatened
certain species are, or it could even be used in a leaflet for a wildlife centre
to again to denote and connote how threatened and endangered animals are or to
bring people in to their centre to educate them on wildlife.
C/D) The photographic techniques
that this photograph uses is also varied, yet again the most obvious
photography technique is the shutter speed as this photograph has a slow
shutter speed this is shown by the motion blur, which means the shutter speed
would be about 1/60th of a second. The second photography technique used is
shallow depth this is shown as the foreground is in focus whereas the
background is out of focus this is created through the us of a smaller f-number such as f/1.4 which also means this pictures has a large aperture. The third photography technique used is the
technique known as the rule of third which is used to make the photograph look
balanced, another photography technique used is high key lighting. The shot
type in which this photograph uses is a long shot and the camera angle
in which this photograph uses is a high angle meant to appear as if it is an eye level shot, the angles could have been used to connote how vulnerable and endangered the animals are becoming but it could also be used to connote how elegant the species are as well i.e the way in which the photograph was taken i.e the shutter speed causing the motion blur shows how the animal moves and act in its habitat, it denotes how dangerous and elegant the leopard can be. The shot type could also be used to connote how elegant and vulnerable the species/animals are, as the shot type is there to not only denote the action but the background as well which could be brought back to one of the purposes of the photograph which is to connote the beauty of nature and wildlife by photographing the animals in their natural habitats. The ISO that this photograph uses would be somewhere around the standard ISO setting (ISO 100 or 200) as the image is sharp.
FRAMING
3.
Steve McCurry - Documentary
A) This photograph belongs to photographic category of
documentary.
B) The purpose of this photograph
could be again to denote and connote the power of nature and to denote the
suffering of the people in the middle of its (Affected by it). But it could
also connote the complete opposite as the photograph could connote the strength
of mankind and their resilience to give in. The purpose of this photograph could also be to be used in a leaflet for say the Hart organisation (Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust) to bring awareness to the people struggling because of this event.
C/D) This photograph uses several
techniques, one of which is the technique known as the rule of third, which is
used to make the photograph look balanced. The second photography technique
that this image uses is known as a deep depth of field which is caused/created
by having a small aperture which is shown as both the foreground and the
background are in focus they do this by using a large f- number such as f/8, another photography technique used is high key
lighting. The fourth technique that was used in this image was the speed in in
which the shutter operated as the shutter speed would have been altered as it
caught the motion in which the water was moving while in-focus, which means the
shutter speed would have been increased to be able to capture this. The last
technique used would have been the way in which the photo was composed, for
example the shot type used was a long shot and the angle in which the photo was
taken is known as high angle however it can seem to appear as an eye level
shot, these angles and shot types were used as it helps to connote the illusion
of insignificance as by doing this the people within the image just become part
of the image whereas the background stands out, which was the objective of this photograph (to show the power of 'mother' nature). The ISO that this photograph uses would be somewhere around the standard ISO setting (ISO 100 or 200) as the image is in-focus and sharp.

Carlotta Cardana - Documentary
A) This photograph belongs to photographic category of
portrait
B) The purpose of this photograph
could be to bring recognition to the modern Native American community by
combining the two in this photograph i.e. the modernisation and the
stereotypical Native American culture (Traditional stereotype of them using
fire) it could be used in a newspaper/website article from the Daily Express or The Sun.
C/D) The photographic techniques used in
this image vary, one of the more obvious techniques used is high key lighting
as natural lighting is being used. The second technique which is again one of
the more obvious ones used is the rule of thirds, which is used to make the
image look balanced. The third photography technique that this image uses is
known as deep depth of field which is caused/created by having a small aperture
which is shown as both the foreground and the background are in focus this is done through the use of a larger f-number such as f/8, the last technique this image would have used would
have been the way in which the photo was composed, for example the shot type
used was a long shot this is denoted as it shows the person in full (head to
toe) as well as it has lots of background/foreground detail, and the angle that
was used is known as a low angled shot however it can seem to appear as an eye
level shot/neutral shot, both of these angles can help to connote the meaning/purpose
of the image, for example the low angle can be seen to connote power and danger, which is stereotypical for fire as its danger and dominating. The ISO that this photograph uses would be somewhere around the standard ISO setting (ISO 100 or 200) as the image is in-focus and sharp.

LO1 Starter Task 'Analysing a Photograph'
List as many photography techniques you can see in the image on
screen;
The photograph has a slow shutter speed
this is shown as you can see the motion blur this means the shutter speed would
be about 1/60th of a second, the second photography technique used is shallow
depth this is shown as the foreground is in focus whereas the background is out
of focus. Another photography technique used is the technique known as the rule
of third which is used to make the photograph look balanced, the fourth
photography technique used is the angle known as the canted angle, another
technique used in this image was high key lighting.
The purpose of this photograph could be to
promote a specific motorcycle and brand, it could also be to promote motorcycle
racing/betting, and it might also be promoting the sport of motorcycling. The
less likely reason for this photograph is to connote the danger of motorcycles
this is shown through the use of angles and the use of the techniques to make
the crowd in the background come out.
